it's easy to compare a fake with an original one. The back part of the card has lighter blue shade compared to the original. It is also easily bent.

There was a feature way back the WotC about the "light test". Try comparing the original and facke under a fluorescent light and tell me the difference (because I could not actually recall what is was).  |

I tried to compare a fake card with an original one.. And here's what I noticed.. 1. Upon close inspection, there is difference in font in the attack text. 2. Looking at the yellow border of the card, the fake is not perfectly symmetrical. 3. The illustration of energy cost, (ex. the leaf symbol for grass energy), seems as if it is already filling up the entire circle border. The drawing of the leaf (for example), is as big as the circle that holds it. Comparing with the original, the illustration is slightly smaller than the circle, allowing a little space. 4. The inside yellow color of the word pokemon at the back of the card appears in a darker hue. But the blue border is lighter. 5. Font and size of the name of the pokemon is different. Sometimes, there are typos.. which makes it easier to determine as fake. ( I saw one, Root Fssil) HOPE THIS HELPS.. |

Well the font size and the energy design is very very obvious. But the problem will be the color of the cards if the even someone is good enough to get the exact font size.

hmm.. it gives me a conclusion though, if the font is different and energy design is different, too.. It means those who create fake cards do not entirely "photocopy" or "xerox" the card. They try to copy it using a software maybe. Im not sure. Because if you copy the exact face of the card, those (font, energy design) won't be an issue. Lighter colors maybe.

FAKE cards are really too easy to distinguish, we were lucky because there machinery, was not able to copy the exact font and color of original pokemon cards, because remember the YU-GI-Oh fake cards? hehehe it was almost exactly like the original, if your not a player you will never know the fake and the original. still, like what I did to the mother of one of my player, I told her that the cards were fake coming from Singapore, she was aware, but she still purchase the cards, haaayyyyyyyyy !!! I dunno, but as a mother she should purchase a original one so that no cards will going to waste. hehehe a little embarassed though campaigning in this serious issue is a must although it is so hard. due to reasons of financial capabalities...  |
