I now the next set (Diamond and Pearl) will come out around next year ish... but anyway just rant away in this thread First things first, they finally, FINALLY put back the Pokemon data. FYI, that the height, weight, etc. They also put back the descriptions of the Pokemon (that was one of the reasons I actually bought Pokemon cards). Third is the development of Non-Energy Attacks. Don't have energy... Give him a cheap 10 damage attack to harrass him. thats all I know sorry guys ~Devoid

Continuing the topic...
The addition of numbers next to the weakness and resistance...
Ex: Neatle is grass type, It is weak to fire (+10), and it resists water (-20)
it could mean that weakness is either: - Base Damage + the number (surviving attacks would be easier) - or Doubled + the number beside it (overkill)
Since theese changes were made, some strategies will be modified as well...

Funny how english sites have just reported this. It has been on the official japanese site for ages. Anyway the changes are cool but kinda scary. I've talked with my international friends who enjoy Pokemon and they are divided. Some said it would work some said it would be trouble. I think it will work well in japan since PCL format is usually by generation. RS-DF for example. I don't know how hard these changes will affect POP format though

Weakness & Resistance NEW RULES: Weakness now ranges from +10 to +30 depending on the Pokemon and they are not doubled, just add the weakness that's it (e.g. Weakness +10, so damage +10 for the weakness) Resistance is now also -20 and -30 depending on the Pokemon This is official anyway.
Release: October 27, 2006 JAPAN ( Early 2007 for the USA)

To elaborate:
Basic: Weakness of the type + 10 Stage 1: Weakness of the type + 20 Stage 2: Weakenss of the type + 30
(Somewhat a pattern)
Resistance: -20 and -30
There are energyless attacks (I noticed that the Basic Pokemon only have this feature) which is from 10 to 20.

I just want to clarify about the Weakness:
The Weakness Varies on the Pokemon: for example
Naetoru (Basic) W:+10 Hayashigame(Stage1) W:+20 Dotaitosu(Stage2) W:+30
Pocchama(Basic) W:+10 Pottaishi(Stage1) W:+20 Enperuto(Stage2) W:+20
Dotaistosu's Weakness is +30 whilst Enperuto's Weakness is +20
