Yes, this is the last set for the delta pokemon and probably the last set for the 3rd Gen..
Actually, after this one the next is the DP so we are expecting a change next year. I really dont know if the standard ruling will affect the new ruling in applying weakness and resistance on the new context of DP.

I'm not sure... but it would be better if DP isn't included in the Nationals untill next year (with the othere DP sets).... I mean, ifyou do damage on Mimilop with your Machoke it would just do Base + 20/30, then the player puts out Erureido, which is psychic and does Double Damage and knocks out your Machoke.... >.....> unfair...?

I also dont know if those cards where officially will turn out the ruling of applying weakness specially... this cards will definitely affect the game so much specially there are so many expansions that will be affected, the turn out of this DP maybe have some conditions to apply such ruling in applying weakness and resistance.. Hopefully they have some wonderful ideas so that the older versions can cope up with this new rulings...(not official yet !)

Pokemon Card Game DP will be released in Japan and some other countries who will import it next week, OCTOBER 27, 2006.
With the new rules and format, it is possible that it might not be in the format for next year's World Championships 2007 in Hawaii. So maybe the 2007-2008 format might be the Diamond/Pearl Set and the other new sets to be released meaning EX Deoxys to EX Dragon Frontiers will be rotated out (that's 8 sets!).

That is way doubtful (actually impossible) for 8 sets to be rotated or else it will be chaos. So it is very probable PUI will retain its 3-4 set rotation each year. It is also very doubtful for the DP cards will not be part of the cards included for Nationals because we will have a very low low card pool and there is still one or two sets to be released before Nationals.
In comes to the comapatability of the DP cards and other cards in the new mechanics, only Pokemon Japan will answer that (the PTCG labs in the R and D department). The change will be seen if the new rulebook for the set is published where the mechanics on the previous expansions will be seen. It is very very hard to speculate right now. I myself do not give a lot of speculations.
Please avoid to give speculations without CONCRETE basis or not from a VERY VERY reliable source. This could give too many negative impacts on the game in the process.
I as moderator will see to that. Wait for the set to come then we will discuss constructively. ;D

YUP ! YUP !
but pokebeach I think open this topic too early..
Basic Information Title: "Pokemon Card Game DP" Theme: Diamond and Pearl Pokemon (for the first time) Japanese Release Date: October 27th American Release Date: Early Spring New / Returning Game Mechanics Pokemon levels, PokeDex Numbers, Classification, Height, Weight, and PokeDex information (flavor text) return to the TCG. There are now energyless attacks, where a Pokemon can use an attack without any energy requirement whatsoever. Apparently, a Pokemon's level will be what distinguishes the Pokemon from other Pokemon with the same name. Weakness and Resistance are now customized to each Pokemon. For example, Naetle is weak to Fire, with a +10 next to it. It is also resistant to water by -20 (see image below). At this point, it is unknown if this means that for weakness, you first double the damage done to the Pokemon, then apply the extra damage, or if you just apply the base damage of the attacking Pokemon plus the extra damage. As an example, if a Fire Pokemon attacks Naetle with a 20 damage attack, the attack's damage will either be 20 (base damage) x 2 (classical weakness rules) + 10 (as indicated on the card), or just 20 (base damage) + 10 (as indicated on card). We will not know the answer to how to handle the weakness damage until the set actually comes out.
Card Translations Nine Cards from Theme Decks Translations of Official Info The new series, called "Pokemon Card Game DP (Diamond & Pearl)" is slated to come out on October 27. In conjunction with the release of the video game, the Pokemon Card Game is also entering the new word of Pokcket Monsters Diamond & Pearl. This time, we're introducing cards of the three Starter Pokemon, Naetle, Hikozaru, and Pocchama. Let's check out the new design and play elements in Pokemon Card Game DP!
Naetle has a Tackle attack that can be used even if it has no Energy attached. This attack does 10 damage to the Defending Pokemon. It also has another attack, Razor Leaf, that does 20 damage for 1 Grass Energy. Since it has 60HP even as a Basic Pokemon and can continuously attack for very little energy, it is a very promising Pokemon!
Hikozaru has an Energy-free Scratch attack that hits the Defending Pokemon for 10 damage. Also, it can deal major damage with its 30 damage Fireworks attack. Flip a coin, if tails discard 1 Fire Energy attached to Hikozaru. Perhaps Hikozaru can defeat the opponent in one strike!
Pocchama has a Peck attack that can hit for 10 even if it has no Energy, and a Spray attack that does 30 damage on a heads coin flip. On tails the attack does 20 damage. It also has 60HP, so put it active and let it gradually inflict major damage!
On each Pokemon's card, an LV. (level) is displayed. The LV. is used to gauge a Pokemon's strength and to distinguish between Pokemon when they have the same name. The Pokemon's Pokedex number, classification, height, and weight are displayed. Know your Pokemon to gain an advantage. Pokemon that can attack without Energy make their appearance! They deal damage quickly, even without an Energy attached. Many strategies are sure to change as a result of this! Up until now, Weakness meant damage dealt by a particular type of Pokemon was doubled, and Resistance reduced damage by 30. But in this series, damage dealt to Pokemon in these circumstances changes. The amount of damage done after Weakness and Resistance can be higher or lower.
The Pokedex data from Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl is written on the card! When you know what characteristics each Pokemon has, you'll go farther in battle! Pokemon Card Game DP collection numbers are all prefixed with the code "DPBP#." Challenge yourself to complete your numbered set!
just figure it out !! guys !!

Pokebeach already has the spoiler for the starter three pokemon. www.pokebeach.com/sets/pcgdp/themedecks.txtThe weakness as they said is still not clarified until the cards are released (actually those who can read Japanese say that the weakness is only adding a certian number of damage depending on the pokemon). You can use bablefish to translate a webpage of a different langauge.

Sir Pokeproftrainer, I'm really sorry if I am made you mad at me. I'm just new here and i just wanted to help, so i like giving news here (as if im a reporter! Joke!). Sorry if i may be speculating but it may/will be true because it's true that they might not include the DP Set in the Worlds 2007 format. Why? It has a different format like the weakness&resistance. What i was trying to say was that maybe the format for 2007-2008 will be from DP because how can they include the EX sets on the next format, it will be very confusing. And mind you, i hope that the back part will be like the Japanese cards, im very tired of the old one, it's not nice right? No offense but they should try to change the back part like the Japanese ones, so thats why it might be Dp set and above. because cards cant be used in tournaments with different backgrounds right? ( i mean the back of the card, unless u use colored sleeves). And it is true that weaknesss is now only adding the damage (like +10) not doube it same with the resistance (-20) depending on the Pokemon card. Anyway this christmas im going to spend my vacation in another country so I'll try (well i'd like to buy it) to buy the deck of DP Set, yes they sell Japanese products, Hong Kong imports them and they send it there, I'll also buy Diamond Version (DS). I hope you understand sir, thank you for reading too. I'm just triyng to help.
